چکیده
This paper presents the seismic performance of moment-resisting timber frame (MRTF). In Japanese urban areas, there are many small houses, and it is difficult to design a wooden building ensure both comfortable plan that effectively makes use constrained sites, also lacks flexibility in design. Therefore, expectations rising for high MRTF using residential members. this study, clarify dynamic behavior under heavy wave, we conducted full-shaking table test 2-story composed members with short sides. The structure was designed by allowable stress (ASD) resist 1.5 times earthquake ground motion required Building Standard Law (BSL) linear analysis frequent loading conditions (snow, wind, events corresponding return period approximately 50 years), unidirectional full-scale shaking tests were conducted. did not collapse up peak acceleration 0.87 g experienced ∼1/20 rad maximum interstory drift. indicates an method can secure large earthquake. time-response based on joint tests, but stiffness analytical result little lower than experimental result. Then, tried parameter identification quality engineering reproduce behavior. results indicated moment resistance higher because stressed-skin effect floor.

Performance Evaluation of Curved-TADAS Damper on Seismic Response of Moment Resisting Steel Frame
In this study, the performance of triangular added damping and stiffness (TADAS) dampers combined with curved dampers (Curved-TADAS damper) is evaluated in moment resisting steel frame (MRSF). These dampers are passive and install in the beam-column connection region. Variable parameters of this study involve the width of curved damper (50, 75 and 100 mm), the thickness of TADAS damper (5 and 1...
متن کاملTests to Determine the Joint Stiffness and Resisting Moment Capacity of Joints in Timber-Framed Houses
Wind and earthquake disasters in the world often cause billions of dollars of damage to buildings, most of which is to non-engineered buildings-especially homes. Wood-frame homes use connectors which exhibit partial rotational rigidity at the member ends, making analytical solutions difficult. This is due to the lack of information about the complex behavior of the connections used in this type...
متن کاملAssessing Seismic Performance of the Elliptic Braced Moment Resisting Frame through Pushover Method
The seismic performance of elliptic braced moment resisting frame (ELBRF) is assessed here and is found that the structural behavior is improved and is of free of architectural space. The demand for seismic performance of ELBRF is estimated through conventional pushover methods of 3, 5, 7, and 10-story ELBRF frames and they are compared with special moment resisting frames (SMRF) and X-Braced C...
متن کاملSeismic fragility assessment of RC moment resisting frame buildings designed for different editions of Iranian seismic design code
Background and objective: Developing fragility and vulnerability functions are important tools in seismic reliability assessment of buildings and are widely used in regional seismic risk studies. To date sufficient studies for developing analytical fragility functions for Iranian code-conforming buildings have not been carried out. Performing such studies are necessary to assess the adequacy of...
متن کاملPeriod Formulas for Moment-resisting Frame Buildings
Most seismic codes specify empirical formulas to estimate the fundamental vibration period of buildings. Evaluated first in this paper are the formulas specified in present US codes using the available data on the fundamental period of buildings “measured” from their motions recorded during eight California earthquakes, starting from the 1971 San Fernando earthquake and ending with the 1994 Nor...
